I know what it is, I'm just surprised why this community enforces it. So why do you enforce it?
Coppa?

Asking something like that makes me think you might have lied about your age. I mean why would you care if you aren't below 13 years old?

This thread isn't about the doubt of my age. I would thank you for your concern, but it was a red herring to my actual question. If the question was not made obvious the first time I asked, I'll make it more painfully so. Why does this community enforce coppa if most others don't?

You gotta ask @SaintLuther, also the coppa only applies if you are from USA.

According to the FTC,
Quote:2. What are the penalties for violating the Rule? It's simpler to enforce than pay over $40,000.

I think @SaintLuther would rather loose a member than get a lawsuit because the kid lied about their age and he allowed them to play on his servers

It's against the law. Period. It's not a hard concept. American servers... Coppa. Can't have one without the other. I don't know why this question is always asked it's fairly simple -_-

Dude, no. You can't just say that this is black and white when laws are divided into shades of grey. You can bypass coppa with a modification to the TOS, the reason why the cmunity follows coppa was already 'answered' above. Legal issues aren't simple, you can either use coppa or not. It matters little if thr TOS is written correctly, either they do want to keep tabs on kids or this is the better way of following the law. Either or doesn't matter. Personally I believe the route chosen was smart, just not what I would have done.
